Exactly one year ago today – July 15 – I enacted my own little mini declaration of independence (yeah, I’m not dramatic). On July 15th, 2009 I quit my career, city, and country all in one day.
Over the last 365 days I’ve visited 14 new countries, lived in 1 very frustrating city, tasted 18 new cuisines, survived 110 F heat, made some fantastic friends (including 2 rickshaw drivers), lost 2 cell phones, tattooed 1 very elaborate compass onto my back, gained 0 lbs (thank god), turned 26 (damnit), and eaten about 900,000 mangoes.
While we’re on the topic, can we discuss how Will Smith’s Independence Day was one of the best movies ever made?
